A note left hereRapa Nui is one of the most remote and spiritually moving places on Earth. Seeing the Moai up close and hearing stories about them was a dream come true.
Rano Raraku (The "Moai Factory") was my favorite. Walking through the volcanic quarry where the statues were carved feels surreal. You see nearly 400 moai in various stages of completion—some still attached to the bedrock and others half-buried in the grassy slopes.
You must buy your Rapa Nui National Park pass in advance (usually online).…

Seeing the iconic moai statues up close was surreal, set against some of the most dramatic and unspoilt landscapes we’ve ever experienced. The island’s history, culture, and sheer remoteness make it feel like nowhere else on earth—an absolute bucket-list destination.
