A visit to Jeju isnโt complete without seeing Seongsan Ilchulbong, one of Koreaโs most famous natural landmarks and a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Rising 182 metres above sea level, this breathtaking volcanic crater was formed around 5,000 years ago by an underwater volcanic eruption. ๐๐
Its name โIlchulbongโ means โSunrise Peak,โ and itโs considered one of the best places in Korea to watch the sunrise. ๐

A note left hereSeongsan Ilchulbong โ Sunrise Peak โ sits at the eastern tip of Jeju Island, about 75 km from Jeju City, roughly an hour by car. It's one of the first stops people plan when they visit Jeju, and for good reason.
The peak is a tuff cone formed by a volcanic eruption underwater around 100,000 years ago. The crater at the top is wide and bowl-shaped, ringed by jagged rock ridges covered in grass that shifts between deep green and golden yellow depending on the season. From the summit, the view โฆ
A note left hereGreat place, but very crowded. The hike itself isnโt particularly scenic, most of the trail doesnโt offer many views. The path is easy, with places to sit at the top, and there are restrooms along the way. In my opinion, the best viewpoint isnโt actually on the paid trail, but from the area right next to the hill
